Daiichi 1530 Heavy Wet Nymph Hook- Fish confidently with strong fly hooks that won't bend when fighting salmon or steelhead or swinging wet flies. The Orvis 1641 is the same hook as the Daiichi 1530. In the early days of fly tying and fly-fishing, "wet flies" were the standard. Dry flies, nymphs and streamers today are more popular, but wet flies, which are fished subsurface, are still very successful for catching trout, steelhead, and salmon. We used this hook, religiously, for salmon and steelhead in the Great Lakes. This hook is a "modern" version of the traditional wet fly hook but also has the very heavy wire for extra weight and strength.
Daiichi 1530 Heavy Wet Nymph Hook has a sproat bend, down-eye, 2X-heavy wire, 1X-short shank. Generally used for short-bodied wet flies, nymphs, and salmon and steelhead flies.
